The field trip

Taking it back to childhood, to the days when the only responsibilities we had were to drink @caprisun and play outside. This boozy version will help you cool you down on a hot summer day and forget the responsibilities of adulthood.

The Goods:

2 ounce strawberry shrub

2 ounce kiwi shrub

2 ounce white rum

1/2 ounce lime juice

splash soda water

Strawberry Shrub:

2 cups halved strawberries(stem cut off)

1 cup granulated sugar

1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

Kiwi Shrub:

2 cups sliced kiwi(peeled)

1 cup granulated sugar

1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

The Method:

  1. Pour the rum and lime juice into a cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake for 10 seconds.

  2. Fill an old fashion glass with crushed ice.

  3. Strain the vodka over the ice. Pour the strawberry shrub over the vodka and ice, then kiwi shrub.

  4. Add a splash of sparkling water. Enjoy!

Shrub Method: (each fruit is in a separate bowl)

  1. In a bowl, pour the cup of sugar over the fruit.

  2. Cover with plastic wrap and place in fridge

  3. After 3 days, stir and press the fruit to release more juice. Repeat on day 4.

  4. On the fifth day press the fruit and strain into a mason jar with a lid. Add apple cider vinegar to help preserve the juice.
